Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
