Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun using tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these missions have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms could shortly earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
Another Reddit user highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
But when doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for completing them in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Upcoming Tweaks
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced overall gameplay in future updates.
